Paraska Plytka-Horytsvit is a Ukrainian Hutsul artist, photographer, writer, storyteller, folk philosopher, folklorist, ethnographer, dialectologist.

We discover the meanings embedded in the handkerchief:

Swallow

When Paraska joined the national liberation movement and became a liaison of the UPA, her nickname was "Swallow".

Photo film

Paraska took more than 4,000 photos during her lifetime. She was a talented and meticulous photographer. Her photos give an opportunity to see the everyday life of ordinary people who lived in the Carpathian Mountains in the second half of the 20th century.

Vytinanka

Since childhood, Paraska was called "Paper Factory" because of her thirst for working with paper. Paraska was incredibly skilled at the traditional art of carving: she decorated her home with carvings, the covers of her own books, and most often created book cases decorated with carvings.
